What is barbershop music?

Barbershop is a cappella vocal harmony produced by four voice parts: tenor, lead, baritone and bass. This singing style produces an overtone which is a higher, unsung note produced by the interaction produced by frequencies among the four voice parts. Who is Sweet Adelines International?

Founded in 1945, Sweet Adelines International is a worldwide women's singing organization committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop harmony through opportunities in education, performance and competition. The organization is a 501(c)(3) that is governed by an internationally elected board of directors and administered by a professional staff based in Tulsa, Okla.

How can I can become involved in Sweet Adelines?

There are many ways to become involved with the organization. The most popular way to become in the organization is by becoming a member. Members will find opportunities to sing in a quartet or a chorus. We also have members that may not choose to sing with a chorus or quartet but still want to be involved and choose the chapter-at-large or member-at-large membership option.
